NORTHPORT – After starting off area play strong on Thursday night against the Hillcrest Patriots, the Thompson Warriors kept rolling with a win over the other Tuscaloosa team out of Class 7A, Area 5. Just like their first area win, the Warriors secured a 3-0 win over the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Tuscaloosa County High School. With the win, Thompson moved to 2-0 in area play ahead of the final two area games against Oak Mountain and Hoover next week. However, Tuscaloosa County made the second set a much tighter affair as the hosts challenged for the upper hand. The Warriors maintained control though and got the win in the end. Thompson secured the second-set win by a score of 25-20 to increase its hold on the match. From there, the Warriors dominated the third set and rolled to a commanding lead that they held all the way through the end to see out the victory. Thompson tripled the Wildcats' point total and finished off the match with a 25-8 third-set win, sealing the 3-0 sweep.
