NEW YORK – Bradley Franklin added another phenomenal achievement to his resume with a podium performance at the national championships.

Franklin, the Alabaster native and Thompson alum, finished second in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2026 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships on Sunday, July 26 at Ithaca Stadium in New York.

He finished the race with a personal record of 12.997 seconds. It was just four-thousandths of a second away from a national championship as Cordell Tinch finished in 12.993 seconds to claim first place.

The time represents a 0.19 improvement from his fifth-place time at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in June, where he ran a 13.19-second race to secure All-American honors. In New York, he did not have to face Auburn's Ja'Kobi Thorp, who smashed the world record with a 12.75-second run in the NCAA semifinals en route to a national title.

This season was a dominant one for Franklin, who finished second to Tharp in the men's 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships back in March. During the indoor season, he held the fastest time in the country with 7.41 seconds, which he ran during the SoCon Championships.

He secured five SoCon championships in 2026, including the outdoor 110-meter hurdles and 200-meter run plus the indoor 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles.

The 2024 Shelby County Male Athlete of the Year has now earned All-American honors four times in his career. He improved on a 15th-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles semifinals in 2025.
