A trio of Thompson softball players closed out awards season with some high honors recognizing them as some of the best in the country.

Thompson's Krimson Calhoun, Kelsey Burden and Kadyn Bush were each named MaxPreps All-Americans by the national high school sports outlet on Thursday, July 2.

Calhoun received All-American Third Team honors while Burden and Bush each earned Honorable Mentions.

Calhoun was named Shelby County Hitter of the Year and won the county batting title with a .669 average and 1.552 OPS. The sophomore finished with 78 runs and 37 RBI off her 93 hits, which included 10 doubles and seven triples, in her first season with the Warriors.

Burden finished the year with another solid performance at shortstop, and she added to that at the plate with a .511 average and 1.259 OPS off 71 hits, 65 runs and 52 RBI.

Bush finished with a 13-0 record, 2.13 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 67 strikeouts and 20 earned runs in 65.2 innings.

All three players were also Class 7A All-State First Team and All-County First Team selections ahead of their All-American honors.

Their honors came after a dominant season by the Warriors where they finished 46-3-2, winning the Class 7A, Area 5 championship, No. 1 qualifier at the East Regional and finishing runner-up in the state tournament. MaxPreps ranked Thompson No. 19 in the country and No. 3 in Alabama behind only 4A champion Orange Beach and 7A champion Hewitt-Trussville.

Other Alabama players selected were Hewitt-Trussville's Corey Goguts and Orange Beach's Ava Hodo on the First Team, the Makos' M.K. McMullan and Katie King on the Second Team, Colbert County's Makayli Davis on the Third Team and Wetumpka's Lalah Culpepper and Orange Beach's Jayde Palmer as Honorable Mentions.
