The Warriors are back in action for the final game of the season as they travel to
Protective Stadium to play in their seventh straight Super 7 state championship game
on Wednesday, December 4 at 7 pm.
Thompson will face Central-Phenix City, who they have faced four times before – all in
the state championship game and splitting the series 2-2.
Central won the first game 52-7 in Auburn back in 2018 in Thompson's first state
championship appearance since 1982. Thompson rebounded the next year at Auburn to
win 40-14 to win their second ever state title.
In 2021, Thompson and Central played the first ever state championship game at
Protective Stadium as the Warriors came out on top 38-22. Then last year Central held
on to win 21-19 in Tuscaloosa.
This year's Central-Phenix City team finished third in 7A Region 2 with an overall record
of 10-2 after falling to Auburn 38-33 and Opelika 23-14 in the back half of the season.
Similar opponents this season include Auburn, Enterprise (Central won 34-21), Vestavia
in round two of the playoffs (Central won 41-21) and then Hoover in the semifinals
(Central won 17-7).
Central is helmed by former Auburn quarterback Patrick Nix in his fifth year as head
coach as he looks to win his second state title game. QB Andrew Alford leads the
offense, completing 147/241 for 2,169 yards with 26 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
Alford was 10/17 for 203 yards with one touchdown and one interception last year in the
championship game, most of it to star WR Cam Coleman this year. Tristan Williams
leads all rushers with 176 carries for 1,232 yards and 19 touchdowns. Williams rushed
for 125 yards and two touchdowns last year in the state title game. Miami commit
Daylyn Upshaw leads all receivers with 62 catches for 1,008 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Thompson enters the game at 10-3 with playoff wins over Daphne, Auburn and
Enterprise and looks to get revenge for last year's close loss at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The Warriors are led on offense by sophomore QB
Trent Seaborn who is 201/311 for
2,545 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Michael Dujon only needs 14 yards to eclipse the
1,000 yard mark on the season rushing 125 times for 986 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Darion Moseley continues to lead all receivers with 49 catches for 696 yards and 11
touchdowns.
On defense,
Trent Cheatom leads all players with 109 total tackles while Jared Smith
leads in tackles for loss with 21, including 10 sacks.
Anquon Fegans leads in turnovers
with seven total takeaways.
It should be an incredible game and if you can't make it out to Protective Stadium
Wednesday night, make sure to tune in to the Warrior Nation Network. Also make sure
