The Thompson High School boys basketball team is gearing up for another exciting season under Head Coach Major Deacon, who enters his second year leading the Warriors. After building momentum with last year's success, the Warriors are focused on taking the next step and making a strong push in the postseason. With a talented mix of returning players and proven leadership, Thompson looks poised for another competitive run in Class 7A.
The Warriors will feature one senior this year, guard Jason Parks, who brings experience and leadership to a roster filled with returning talent. Parks will anchor a dynamic backcourt alongside Riley Bryant, while Cameron Pritchett returns to play a key role in the paint at the five position. The trio of Pritchett, Bryant, and Trey Knight—all of whom saw significant minutes last season, give the Warriors a strong foundation built on chemistry, scoring ability, and defensive toughness.
Coach Deacon said he's been impressed with the team's offseason development and focus. "Our guys have worked extremely hard since the end of last season," Deacon said. "We've got a core group that understands what it takes to compete at a high level, and they're hungry to build on what we accomplished last year. I love the energy and leadership this group is bringing into the gym every day."
With much of their scoring returning and an experienced backcourt leading the charge, the Warriors are confident they can be one of the toughest teams in the area. "We've got balance across the floor," Deacon added. "Jason and Riley give us a lot of experience handling the ball and setting the tone, while Cameron has developed into a real presence inside. When those guys are clicking, we can play with anyone."
As the season approaches, the Warriors' focus is clear, grow stronger each game and make a deep run when the postseason arrives. "We're ready to take that next step," Deacon said. "Last year showed us what we're capable of, and now it's about putting it all together. I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish."
