Thompson High School Athletics is proud to announce Adam Lawson as the newest member of the men's basketball coaching staff.

Coach Lawson joins THS after an accomplished 13-year tenure at Calera High School, where he served as a key contributor to one of the most successful basketball eras in program history. During that time, Calera accumulated well over 200 wins, produced multiple 20-win seasons, and consistently competed deep into postseason play.

His teams reached the 2026 Final Four, advanced to three Elite Eight appearances, and made five Sweet 16 runs. Calera also captured five area championships under his leadership on staff, establishing a strong tradition of winning and competitiveness.

In addition to team success, Lawson has made a lasting impact on player development. He has helped more than 20 student-athletes earn opportunities to play collegiate basketball and played a major role in the growth of multiple all-state and all-county athletes.

In 2019, Lawson served as interim head coach for part of the season, guiding Calera to an 8–2 record and helping lead the program to a Sweet 16 appearance.

Coach Lawson is widely recognized for his emphasis on building strong player relationships, fostering work ethic, and instilling passion for the game. His commitment to loyalty, development, and culture aligns with the values of Thompson High School Athletics.
