The Thompson High School girls basketball team is entering a new era under Head Coach Nick Browder, who takes over the program for the 2025–26 season. After a successful run at Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Browder brings a winning pedigree and a clear vision for elevating the Warriors to new heights. With experienced players and strong leadership on the roster, Thompson is ready to make an immediate impact under its new coach.
The Warriors will be led by three seniors this season—Natalie French, Jade Nabors, and Jocelyn Roby—each of whom brings leadership and toughness to the court. Thompson also returns several key contributors from last season, including Jordyn Smith, who will lead the backcourt, and Kayla Russell, who provides valuable experience and versatility. Together, they form a balanced lineup with the ability to play fast and compete with any opponent.
Coach Browder said he's excited about the opportunity to build on Thompson's foundation and instill a competitive mindset from day one. "This group has impressed me with their work ethic and their willingness to buy into what we're building," Browder said. "They've responded really well to the changes, and I can already see the potential this team has to grow and compete at a high level."
The Warriors' combination of senior leadership and returning experience gives Browder confidence in his first season at the helm. "We've got a strong mix of talent and character," Browder said. "Natalie, Jade, and Jocelyn set the tone with their leadership, and players like Jordyn and Kayla bring energy and consistency every day. When we're locked in, this team can be special."
With high expectations and a new sense of energy surrounding the program, Thompson is ready to take the court and show what it can do. "Our goal is to build something sustainable and successful," Browder said. "We want to compete every night, represent Thompson the right way, and make a run when it matters most. I'm excited for what's ahead for this group."
