Thompson hits the road this week as they travel to Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa for a region match-up
against the 7A newcomer. The Warriors are coming off a 15-10 win over Hewitt-Trussville last
week while Hillcrest is coming off a 42-21 win over Tuscaloosa County.
The Patriots (4-3, 1-3) are one of three teams that moved into Class 7A from 6A this season
and one of two newcomers to region 3 (along with Prattville from Region 2). They come from 6A
Region 4 where they won the region title the last two years and are on a four-year playoff
streak. However, at 1-3 in region play this year, a loss this week would likely eliminate them
from playoff contention.
Hillcrest leads the all-time series with Thompson 5-4, with their last meeting coming in 2017
after a home-and-home series where Thompson won the most recent game 33-27. Their first
meeting was in 1987 in the 5A playoffs where Thompson won 7-6.
When it comes to other similar opponents on the year, Hillcrest fell to Vestavia 49-17 while
Thompson won 38-17. The Patriots lost to Hewitt-Trussville 47-16 while Thompson won last
week over the Huskies 15-10.
The Patriots are led by quarterback Bryson Kimbrough who has committed to Louisiana-
Monroe. Kimbrough is 58/105 for 971 yards with 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions and has also
rushed 70 times for 318 yards and another 5 scores. Their leading rusher is Christian Richey
who has rushed 96 times for 743 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Thompson is of course led by sophomore quarterback
Trent Seaborn who is 84/138 for 984
yards with 8 touchdowns.
Michael Dujon leads all rushers with 68 carries for 582 yards
(averaging 8.6 ypc) and 7 touchdowns.
Darion Moseley leads all receivers with 11 catches for
168 yards. Seaborn has found seven different receivers for touchdowns this season.
Thompson currently sits at 5-2 overall with a region record of 4-0. They are tied atop the region
standings with Hoover, who comes to Warrior Stadium next week. If both teams win this week,
next week's game will be for the region 3 championship.
If you can't make it out to Tuscaloosa, make sure to catch the game on the Warrior Nation
