Thompson is set to host Oak Mountain in their first home region game tonight as the Warriors
look to improve to 2-0 in region play for the sixth year in a row.
The Warriors opened region play last week with a 47-7 win over Tuscaloosa County in a rain
filled game in Northport. Oak Mountain opened region play with a hard fought loss to newcomer
Prattville 35-28. The Eagles did start 2-0 in non-region play with wins over Briarwood and
Pelham.
Oak Mountain comes in averaging 34.7 points per game while Thompson is averaging 29.3
points per game.
Trent Seaborn is 40/65 on the season for 337 yards including two touchdowns and two
interceptions.
Michael Dujon leads all rushers with 34 carries for 338 yards and four touchdowns
on the ground (averaging 9.9 yards per carry). Dujon has also added six catches for 25 yards
and a touchdown.
Trey Knight and
Pryce Lewis lead all receivers with 64 yards a piece – 11
receivers have caught passes this year.
On defense,
Vini Pires remains atop the tackle chart with 35 total tackles including three tackles
for loss and a forced fumble. Jared Smiths leads the defense in tackles for loss with seven,
including four sacks.
On special teams, John Alan McGuire has put 12 of 15 kickoffs into the endzone, and is 1/1 in
field goals and 11/12 in PATs while averaging 40.7 yards per punt.
Anquon Fegans is the
leading returner with a 93 yard kickoff return for a touchdown two weeks ago against Lipscomb
Academy.
Thompson leads the all-time series against Oak Mountain 12-9, including winning the last 8
dating back to 2017. The Warriors won 68-7 last season.
