Thompson is set to travel to Northport to start region play this week as they travel to Tuscaloosa
County to take on the 0-2 Wildcats. The Warriors are looking to get their 10 th win in a row
against Tuscaloosa County, winning 39-0 last season en route to a region championship.
Thompson rebounded last week after an opening week loss in overtime to Grayson (GA) to get
a 27-21 revenge win over Lipscomb Academy (TN). Tuscaloosa County started the season with
a loss to rival Central Tuscaloosa 31-28 before traveling south to Vigor where they lost 36-7.
Leading the Warriors this season is sophomore quarterback
Trent Seaborn who is 36/56 across
the first two games for 284 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Michael Dujon is the
leading rusher through two games with 23 carries for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with a
receiving touchdown as well.
Trey Knight leads all receivers with 64 yards on 5 receptions.
On defense, the Warriors have stood strong all season, led in tackles by senior
Vini Pires who
has 27 total tackles on the season, including two tackles for loss. Jared Smith leads the defense
in total tackles for loss with six, including three sacks.
Anquon Fegans has a fumble recovery for
a touchdown and
Damonte Tabb leads with one interception.
Thompson leads the all-time series with Tuscaloosa County 10-3, dating back to 1998 where
they first met in the playoffs. County welcomes in new head coach Miles Holcomb after three
years under Adam Winegarden. The Wildcats are looking to get back to the playoffs for the first
time since the first year of Class 7A in 2014. They started 4-1 last season and were near the top
of the region 3 standings, before losing four straight to miss out on the playoffs last season.
